Dr Faiz Faris Bebawi author, consultant, weed scientist, and mentor received his Ph.D. from Aberdeen University, University of Scotland, United Kingdom in 1977. He earned his M.Sc. from Khartoum University, Sudan in 1973, B.Sc. graduating with honours from Khartoum University, Sudan in 1969 and Graduate Diploma in Education from Queensland University of Technology, Australia in 1994.
Dr Bebawi has authored a book titled “A Review of Plants of Northern Sudan” bringing to life current knowledge of weeds of Northern Sudan with special reference to their uses. Dr Bebawi travelled to many countries bringing awareness, education, research and management, results that contribute to agriculture development and innovation particularly in the field of parasitic weeds.
The knowledge and expertise that Dr Bebawi possesses has become an instrumental backbone to many nations weed control and food security strategies, thus enabling successful breakthroughs through continual innovation and development.
Dr Bebawi also served as a lecturer, Associate Professor and Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, Khartoum University, Sudan and tutored tertiary students and supervised a number of post-graduates doing their M.Sc. and Ph.D. providing coaching and training in Plant Botany, Forest Botany, Crop Botany, Weed Biology, Plant Taxonomy and Ecology.
